How to have your cake...and eat it too!

Confession time: I'm still in possession of my wedding cake. It's not wrapped up in copious amounts of aluminum foil and stuffed into a hard to reach corner of the freezer. It's actually on display in our home.  I get a little thrill every time I walk by it. I'll admit it's not as perfect as it once was but it still makes me go...awwww.

My fam came through big time for the wedding. Sister got her super crafty cape on and whipped up quite a few things for me including the cake.

DIFM Strikes Again!

I just realized I haven't posted in days and I totally meant to post every day this week. Hmmm... what could've gotten in the way? Perhaps it was this pesky party we are throwing tomorrow. What!!What!!!!

Help me! Sister makes us work too hard!

In case you forgot what DIFM stands for, here's a refresher. If you didn't click,  it means Do it for Me. As in, I know some very crafty people (HCC 4 Life) and they've been very instrumental in helping us git er done. It's like a wedding militia! There's family and friends working feverishly on all on my silly ideas. They are waaaay too good to me!

Bits of Randomness

I'm still working on the invitations. A special thank you to my super duper minions! I'm off most of this week and next and will hopefully have them closer to finished by then. They won't be finished entirely because I have one or two more elements to procure. I'm kind of over my invites at this point. It's sort of like having too much of something and never wanting to see it again. I suspect this too shall pass. In other news I'll share some random updates and things.

Whew! Another month gone and I'm starting to get nervous. The year is whizzing by. Here's how productive I was in February:

A Hallmark Production

I've never been one for celebrating this Hallmark produced holiday. Isn't it really just an excuse for couples to shove their "love" in the face of those poor sorry singles? Alas, I have fallen under the spell of V-day this year. It marks a year since "the ring" so I guess we can celebrate and acknowledge the day. Technically, "the ring" showed up around the 11th or the 12th (we don't really remember).  Anywho, Sister was making Valentine's Day cakes so we got one.

Let’s Talk About Cake

Yumsie! Yumsie! Yumsie! Oh the cake consult. I just wrapped one up last night with our lovely bakers. They really are amazing. Who are they you ask? Con Amore. Full Disclosure: Con Amore is Mumsie and Sister’s burgeoning cake business. This means I get to be extra EXTRA crazy with my demands. I mean requests. At the conclusion of our meeting many decisions were made. All of which are subject to change.

To start off I had Sister do some sketching of cake ideas. I’m going hard with the playing card motif. Tell me if you think it’s too much.

A little known fact: Pie was the original wedding cake. It’s true. I read it in a book. You can look it up. And no, I’m not still pining for wedding pie. Well maybe just a little.
