Ground Beef Don’t Bleed*

This past weekend I had a…how should I put this? I had an interesting experience. Last week I received a message saying that I’d been specially selected for a free gift. I know what you’re thinking. I thought it too but sometimes I get curious. Naturally, I called them back and the young woman, let’s call her Jessie (cause that’s her name) informed me that I had won a free vacation (3 days, 2 nights) plus $1000 in coupons. Well, la di da! And all I have to do is listen to a presentation on cookware? No obligation to buy? I get a free meal? I’m there!

Cut to Saturday evening at the Marriott Marquis in Midtown Manhattan.

The presentation was on some fancy pants cookware for like $1900-$2300. I also won a discount of 30-40% to use on this magic cookware. Missy presenter spieled for about 90 minutes and cooked up some chicken and veggies. Yum.

I had to drag Mr. H to this thing and boy was he pleased about that.

I politely declined to buy the cookware. Ask me how later. Hee hee. Now this free vacation that I could use at one of 20 locations including Branson, Missouri required a $100 deposit and didn’t give me any info on lodging. The company that called me was Global Lifestyles, the company on the sign in sheet was Royal Prestige and the company providing the trip was Odenza. Hmmm...

Guess who’s not using this trip? I had my suspicions but I was just so dang curious! Thanks Bridal Show for selling my info.

*Quote from the presentation
She made an excellent point about the really red looking ground beef you find in the supermarket. She said it was red dye and I'm liable to believe that. Scary.

  1. Ugh, I went to one of those presentations, too! The chicken was yummy but what a total waste of time!

  2. A $100 deposit for a free vacation? Sounds sketchy!
