Yeah I'm a Nut!

If you haven't quite guessed yet I'm a bit of a loon. Which is okay because hey everybody can't be sane. Here's the latest: I’m starting to work on my invites. I can’t really tell you too much cause it’s super secret until I send them out. In any event I ordered some sample boxes. Yep, I’m doing boxed invitations. I ordered some samples from usbox.com. Of course being the Mensa member that I am I mis-entered my mailing address. I get confused. It happens. Don’t judge!

Anywhos… I noticed the mistake because they sent me the tracking info. I quickly called up UPS to see if I could change the address with them. No dice. They said contact the shipper. Fine. I emailed shipper. They said since it was my error they would have to charge me to reship it. Baaaaaah! Homie don’t play dat! So since the address I entered was on my parents’ block I hatched the following plan:

I’d leave a note for the homeowner like so:

Dear Homeowner,

A package was mistakenly shipped via UPS to your address for K…, mostly because she’s not that bright.  It’s okay I can say that since I am she.  If you have received this package, can you please drop it off at 666 Helen Back Road (by the hydrant in the middle of the block)? Well don’t drop it off by the hydrant but to the house at the address. Or you can call me at 555-555-5555 and I can pick it up. Whichever is easier for you.  I apologize for the inconvenience and will be more careful in the future. I also left a note for UPS outside.

And the note for UPS like so:

Dear UPS person,

You may have a package for a K… at this address. She does not live here.  This was a mistake on her part because she doesn’t know how to type her address yet. Please deliver this package to 666 Helen Back Road (by the hydrant in the middle of the block). I know this is very inconvenient for you since you already passed that address. I am terribly sorry and will be more careful in the future. In other news, how about this crazy weather we’re having?

And then VOILA! No extra shipping and the package in hand right on schedule.

  4. Love the notes! It's great to have humor in place of panic at a time like that!
